We don’t know about you but there’s something about a new year that makes you want to get organized. Maybe it’s a resolution you make every year or just this year! Regardless it’s a great time to get rid of the old and unused and organize your home. If you are a family with children this is even more crucial. We are going to share some ways to get your home more organized this new year for yourself, your family, and your sanity!
-
-
Purge and sort– if you haven’t used it in 6 months, the rule of thumb it needs to go
-
Sell or donate
-
Make homes for your items– don’t just throw the item in a junk closet or drawer- wherever they are mostly used should be their “home”
-
Purchase bins or storage containers to make homes for these items
-
Label the bin or storage container so you know exactly what’s inside
-
-
Train yourself and the family to put things away (this helps eliminate messes)
-
Less is more- teach your children that they don’t have to have large piles of toys or things to be happy. They don’t have to have every single toy out there. They can’t play with it all at once anyway so less is actually better! With less stuff, it’s easier for them to find things more easily and able to play and own more quality toys, to begin with. Choose quality over quantity.
